Classic 7 Layer Bars!

At the beginning of the summer I happened to randomly try a 7 layer bar and from then on it was love. Since then I have tried a few variations & have decided to finally create my own!

These are definitely a sweet treat. I would consider them dessert more than a snack. They are really simple to make is I promise you’ll love them as much as I do!


WHAT YOU WILL NEED

-2 Packages of graham crackers (16-18 crackers)

-1 cup sweetened coconut flakes

-1 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans

-1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

-2 stickers of butter (16 Tbs) melted

-1 cup milk chocolate chips

-3/4 cup white chocolate chips

-1/2 cup peanut butter chips

OR

-1/2 cup butterscotch chips

OR

Both!


STEPS

First you are going to preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then line a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and set it aside for now!

*I like my bars to have a thick crust. If you want something thinner you can cut the graham cracker and butter measurements in half!*

Next you are going to throw your graham crackers into a blender or food processor until they are finally ground. You can always do this the “old fashioned” way and place them into a bag and smash them with something until they are finally ground. I tried this at first.. honestly it takes forever.

After that, melt your butter and mix it into your ground up graham crackers.

Then you can spread that mixture onto the bottom of your pan.

Now we get to pile on the chocolate! first spread out the milk chocolate chips, then white chocolate chips, and lastly peanut butter chips. Like I said earlier you can substitute butterscotch chips in instead of peanut butter if that is what you prefer. Or you can do what I did and use both both!

You’ll then add the coconut and pour the condensed milk evenly on top of everything.

And finally place in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden!


Once done, let the pan cool for around 2 hours. Then place in the fridge to completely cool. Waiting is the hardest part!

Once they have fully cooled, cut your bars into whatever size & shape your heart desires and enjoy!

You can store the rest of your delicious bars in the fridge for enjoying later.
