Skincare Routine: Summer 2015

Skincare Routine: Summer 2015

The summer always makes my oily & acne prone skin flare up. Lets just say the mix of heat, humidity, SPF, and chlorine does not do good things for my skin. During the rest of the year I do still get occasional breakouts, But the summer conditions definitely kick things up a notch.

This summer I finally found a great skin care routine to help keep my skin happy! Everyone’s skin reacts differently to products so this might not do the trick for everyone, but I thought it could be helpful for some!

Just a quick FYI, Since my skin is very important to me I do like to invest in it. Some of my products are definitely more on the pricy side. I’m not in any way bashing drug store skin care, This is just what I have found works best for me!

Links to all products will be at the end of the post.

Makeup Removal- This part obviously only happens at night on days when I have makeup on haha. I just use the Simple cleansing wipes. If you are not super into skin care, I suggest at the least getting some wipes to remove your makeup. Sleeping with your makeup on is one of the worst things you can do for your skin. So don’t do it!

Cleansing- I use the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel. This is just a very basic, non-irritating, daily cleanser. I use this both morning and night!

Toning- Toner is something that is not 100% necessary, but it is a step I like to do! In the morning I use the Mario Badescu Cleansing lotion. Which again, is a very mild and gentle everyday toner. I do not like to use many intense products.

When I do my skin care routine at night I like to use the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Toner. This astringent is a micro exfoliante and is definitely more harsh/drying than the toner I use in the mornings.

Treatment- Since I do get breakouts I like to use a treatment. I recently started using the Kate Somerville Anti Bac Clearing Lotion. This can be drying when you first start using it, but it definitely helps tremendously! If you’re on the hunt for a new acne treatment I would fully recommend this one!

Moisturizer-  This step is another very important step. A lot of people with oily skin don’t see the importance of moisturizing because they do not have dry skin. But, moisturizing is just as important on oily skin, especially if you are using drying acne products. Not moisturizing your oily skin can only cause it to be more oily and flaky at the same time! So do yourself a favor  and moisturize.

Extras- These steps are just something extras I like to do every so often! Firstly, I use the Kate Somervile Exfolikate about 2 times a week. This is an exfoliating treatment which I talk more about here!

I also really like to rotate between a bunch of masks, but my current favorite is the Freeman Sweet Tea & Lemon Peel-Away Clay Mask! I love doing peel-off masks just because of how easy & and fun thy are. Plus, I really feel like it is taking the gunk off of my face.

I know this might be a lot for some people, But skin care is something I love to learn about and also do! If you’re a little more laid back with your skin care you can take parts of this big thing and simplify it to be your own!

I hope I could help some of you & and thank you for reading!
