SHORTS // BIKINI TOP (similar) Original found in store at Aerie

Happy Thursday, friends. Also known as friday-eve. So happy almost weekend! Now that summer is getting closer, I thought it would be fun to share some of my summer essentials. This isn’t beauty, fashion, or lifestyle specific; just a big mix of everything. But let’s be real, it’s mostly fashion and beauty.

P.S. links for all products are at the bottom of the post, along with pictures!

 1. SUNSCREEN

Sunscreen is important all year round, but especially when your spending days in the hot summer sun. I like using physical sunscreens opposed to chemical sunscreen. Simply put, the difference is just in the ingredients. Chemical sunscreens is made of, you guessed it, chemicals; which can be irritating to some skin types. While physical sunscreens are often made of minerals and other more natural ingredients. My skin is not super sensitive, but definitely prone to breaks outs. So for me, physical spf is the way to go! My favorite facial sunscreen right now is this one from Supergoop! It is very similar to the CC cream I mentioned in my beauty favorites post, which is also a mineral sunscreen.

2. WHITE TEE

I pretty much live in a white t-shirt, especially in summer. I even have one on while typing this! I don’t think I will ever get over the classic look of denim and a white t-shirt. Personally I love v-necks, but nothing too low or plunging. Something similar to this tee here! I’m also a sucker for flowy/slouchy tees, like this one. Nothing like being comfy and cute all at the same time!

3. SELF TANNER

Although I may look like I’ve never touched a self tanner in my life, I’m currently working on building a summer glow. Plus the bright lighting in my pictures tends to wash my out even more. I’m currently using the Vita Liberata gradual tanning lotion. I originally got a sample of this in my Birchbox and fell in love. I mean how could you not love a natural looking tan without any of the sun damage? It never leaves any streaks or orange spots. Even on my super pale skin. I would highly recommend this to everyone. Especially tanning newbies or pale girls that are afraid of being orange. So I basically recommend this product to myself haha!

4. HATS

A cute summer hat can be the perfect final touch to an outfit. Aside from the cute factor, they also can greatly protect you from sunburns/ sun damage on your face and scalp! A little extra sun protection never hurts! And if you’ve ever gotten a sunburn in the part of your hair you’ll understand the importance of a hat. I’ve been drooling over these two hats (here and here), they are definitely on my wish list.

5. BEACH COVER UP

As much as I loving swimwear, I also love great cover up. I’m in desperate need for some new cute ones. For the past year or so I’ve been using some of my favorite t-shirt dresses (check out my t-shirt dress post here). I found an adorable slip dress from ASOS which I think will be an adorable beach cover up; find it here! I’ve been loving the trend of colorful pom poms and tassels, hence why I love the dress!
